Opie Task

For this task we were asked to create a self portrait in the style of Julian Opie. We were given an example in the form of Blur, on the cover of their album, 'Blur : The Best Of' (see below).

We were asked to complete this task in order to improve our Photoshop skills for our A2 year, as we will be using this program for our coursework. I created my 'Opie' by using several layers and block colours in Photoshop, to form an overall cartoon portrait effect.

Although this task was somewhat time consuming, I enjoyed completing it as it was fairly simple, gave me the opportunity to have a more in-depth attempt at using photoshop and also gave me a final piece of work that was enjoyable to look at.

This task also allowed me to further develop skills that I already had with Photoshop, helped to bring out my creativity and give me some ideas for possible future work.
